Raised in Albany, Luke Foyle developed his love and passion for cooking at a young age. Taking notes from his grand parents, he was always curious about working in the kitchen with him and the joy that came from creating great dishes from amazing local produce. Once he decided that this was his industry he moved to Perth, grabbing the qualifications he earned at The Esplanade in Albany and his recently acquired drivers license getting scooped up by (A)lure at the time one of the best restaurants in Perth.
Luke set about working with the best Chefs and Mentors the city had to offer. His resume alone reads like a flow chart for culinary cache with references from some of the most respected operators in town. After (A)lure guided him to the end of his apprenticeship, Anthony Norwood gave him his net big step – working at the acclaimed and innovative Cantina 663. From there it was a murderer’s row of venues that went on to become some of the most highly regarded and anticipated around – from Bouchard to opening Ace Pizza, Mrs.S, and The Old Crow, culminating in an incredible stop at Joe Beef in Montreal.
Whilst bringing Bivouac Canteen to life and into the lexicon of the new Northbridge, Luke expanded his range from classic French and Italian cuisine into the greater Mediterranean and Middle East. His work helped the restaurant gain multiple WAGFG Top 50 Restaurant in Perth wins. After developing a great working relationship with the owners, he spearheaded the take-over of Juanita’s Bar with them. Proving you can teach an old Chef new tricks, as an owner he transformed the bar into a Subiaco icon and recently received acknowledgement as one of the Best Bars in Perth at the 2025 WA Good Food Guide awards.
